Questions About The Experience

What makes Wild Blue Yonder different from other rafting companies?
Our experience, our guides and our guest care. We're industry leaders, helping to set the standards. We have excellent guide-to-guest ratios, amazing scenery, and top-quality gear. And there's cookies.

How long is the trip?

The whole experience is about 4 hours, from arrival at the base, until you leave. It's about 2 hours on the river. The rest is registration, getting into gear, going to the river, safety talks, getting off the river, coming back to the base, and getting changed. Times vary with water levels and group sizes.

What time should we arrive?

Arrive at our base 5 minutes before the start trip time.

Do I need to know how to swim?
No. Everyone wears a lifejacket (PFD), and the Safety Talk covers what to do if you fall out of the raft.

Do I need paddling experience?
No experience is needed. Our trips are beginner-friendly, and guides teach you everything you need to know.

How physically fit do I have to be?
You should be reasonably fit and able to paddle for short periods. There's a walk down a long, switchback trail to get to the river, so people with walking impairments can find this hard, but we are happy to provide assistance.

Can physically-challenged people go rafting?
Contact us — we’ll assess the situation and, if possible, accommodate the impairment.

How safe is it?

Rafting is less dangerous than mountain biking or downhill skiing, but, there's always risk involved. Read more on our Safety & Expertise page.

Questions About Booking A Trip

How far in advance should I book?
The sooner, the better. Saturdays often sell out, but whatever is available online is available to book. Groups of more than 8 wanting a Saturday trip should book at least 2 weeks in advance.

Do I have to make a reservation?

Generally, yes. But if there's space on a trip that's already going out, you can book at the last minute.

I don’t see the date I want!

Contact us. We might be able to fit you in.

How do I book for a group?

If you're not sure how many people are coming, booking for the lowest number you're sure of. It's better to add to a booking than pay cancellation fees.

Group Payments?

One person can pays for a group, but they are responsible for cancellations. Want everyone to pay separately? Contact us and we’ll help organize that.

How old do you have to be?
For the Canyon Whitewater, the minimum age is 8+. At higher water, that can change.

When does your season start and end?
We start in early June and finish in late August, depending on river conditions.
