The River Rating Scale
So just what does class 3 or 4 mean? What about your buddy who ran a class 5? This scale is a standard rating system used to compare river difficulty throughout the world. Anything above class 4+ is uninsurable, so chances are... your buddy was exaggerating.   International Rating Scale

Rafting Terminology
Like any sport, paddling uses words that leaves those who aren't "river rats" scratching their hands in bewilderment. Here's some common words you may see in our website or hear our guides use.  River Lingo

Certification & Licensing
Don't let just anybody take you rafting! The industry is not regulated, so it is buyer beware, and travelling safely down a whitewater river is a bit risky at times. Quality companies usually hold professional associations (see below), have professional looking advertising materials and can provide references upon request.   Our Guides
